Brisbane City Council Bus Drivers will walk off job on Thursday - what it means for your commute.

Brisbane bus drivers will walk off the job from 4am-6am on Thursday morning, in a move that will affect 436 bus trips. Pay talks between Brisbane City Council and the Rail Bus Tram Union came to a halt on Friday. The union wanted a 7 per cent for all council workers, each year for two years. Council is offering a 3.5 per cent and 3 per cent pay risse over two years.
Council has offered about half that, which it said was above the 2.5 per cent inflation rate.
Transport chair Ryan Murphy said although the stoppage was only for two hours, impacts will be felt into peak hour.
At this stage, no school routes will be affected by this strike, with bus drivers already part-way through their route at 4am must complete it, before walking off the job.
Bus drivers not taking part in the industrial action will be employed to help minimise the disruption felt by commuters. Brisbane City Council drivers can earn from $76,000 to $150,000 annually, among the highest paid in Australia.
