Approximately 100 Firefighters battled the blaze which broke out at Storage King, on Old Gympie Road, right next to the Bruce Highway. The fire started just after 6pm, with 2 patients suffering smoke inhalation and one being taken to hospital, according to Queensland Ambulance .

The blaze believed to have started in a singular storage unit, before spreading throughout the whole multi-level complex.

Police declared a PSPA (Public Service Preservation Act) and closed multiple roads surronding the blaze.

That PSPA has since been revoked as firefighters work to bring the blaze under control. Residents in the exclusion zone were urged to stay indoors and motorists advised to avoid the area, and to drive to the conditions.

Pitt Road and Old Gympie Road have since reopened, but the northbound Bruce Highway, Deception Bay on ramp remains closed.

The damage bill will stretch over 1 million dollars as local residents have lost everything.

The question now is- Are these people insured for all their property?
