Death toll surges past 3,000, WHO estimates over 20,000 deaths

Turkey and Syria have been left devastated after a magnitude earthquake rocked both countries in the north and south.


It happened in the early hours of the morning yesterday with Southern Turkey and Northern Syria experiencing severe shaking.

The death toll as of 7:30AM AEDT is currently well over 3,000 with the World Health Organisation predicting deaths of over 20,000.


More than 2,000 buildings have collapsed in Turkey with officials saying 6,445 have been rescued from under the rubble.

International aid from right across the world has been sent in with Poland deployed firefighters and equipment.
